To: Ladies with an interest in Radio
Please join us for some interesting conversation and a cup of tea hosted by Toroa Radio, with guest speaker Sadie Andrews.
Toroa Radio is Dunedin’s only Community Access Radio Station. We exist to put real people from the community on the radio.
Sadie Andrews has been a programme maker with Toroa Radio, almost since it’s conception in the 90’s. She has hosted a few radio shows such as Nutrition Mood, First and Foremost and The Ladies Hour. Come along and hear her talk about her experiences as a lady in radio.
When: 2.30 pm on Sunday 14 February 2010 (Valentine’s Day)
Where: Brian Arnold Room, Community House, 301 Moray Place, Dunedin
RSVP: Renee on (03) 471 6161 or admin@toroaradio.co.nz

We regret to announce that our live stream is down. This is due to the encoder packing up. R2, the company who supply the encoder, are flying an engineer down to us as quickly as possible. We expect the engineer to be with us early next week, and the stream to be back up and running soon after that. In the meantime why not listen to some of our podcasts.

With the assistance of NZ’s own Rocket Lab, Space Station Kiwi has returned to orbit. Captain Cornflakes broadcasts to the children of Dunedin every Wednesday night at 5, as his space station passes overhead.
For kids of all ages who missed out on the first episode and want the chance to win things in this week’s competitions, we’ll have a podcast up by the end of today…

To all those who tuned in to the BBC, or programmes after 8 last night and got nothing but hum and AM whistle, our apologies. There was a technical issue with one of our (otherwise exemplary) broadcasters which resulted in us being off-air until someone came in to fix the problem this morning.
The programme maker in question will be contacted as soon as possible to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

We’re living in the future now!
Silliness aside, Toroa Radio is now back open for business, so you can start dropping in to book new shows and recordings.

The station will be closing for Christmas from the 14th of December, and will reopen on the 11th of January. If you want to prerecord programmes for that period, you’d best book them in ASAP because studio time is rapidly filling up.
Toroa Radio would like to take this opportunity to wish all our broadcasters, listeners and supporters a fantastic Christmas season, and a very happy new year. We look forward to seeing you all next year, and working with you to make more real radio…

No. Not that one.
Rivendell is, in this case, a piece of freeware open-source radio broadcasting software. We’re looking at shifting to Rivendell some time in the nearish future, so Geoff will be running a Rivendell demo this Thursday night, 7pm at the station.
This is your chance to see what the software is like before zero hour, and have some input into how it should be set up and what features we might particularly need.
