It’s NZ Music month and to celebrate the occasion the society is proud to present an evening with The Verlaines.
The seminal Dunedin band The Verlaines formed in 1981 amidst an explosion of young musical talent coming out of the city alongside the (then) Christchurch based record label Flying Nun.
The Verlaines are noted for a clever combination of rock and classical compositional ideas that has earned them wide reaching respect. Today The Verlaines are still writing and recording to the same quality that has become their benchmark, with a new album due for imminent release.
Join us for an evening where the band will talk about the heady days of the 80’s, right up to what the band are doing right now.
The evening will include an open floor Q & A session as well as a chance to hear some live acoustic Verlaines songs. The host for the evening will be Toroa Radio’s Scorcher show programmer “Loff”.
Don’t miss this chance to share an evening with one of New Zealand’s most renowned and respected bands.
Thursday 28th May @ 7.15pm, The Dunningham Suite, Dunedin City Library.
